Biografi
Nuraini Juliastuti ikut mendirikan KUNCI Cultural Studies Center di Yogyakarta, Indonesia, pada 1999. Latar belakang pendidikannya meliputi MSc di Contemporary Asian Studies (University of Amsterdam) dan PhD di Cultural Anthropology (Leiden University). Bidang penelitian Nuraini terletak diantara produksi seni kontemporer, budaya digital, penciptaan commons, dan praktik partisipasi. Karya-karya tulisnya tersebar di beragam media Indonesia dan terbitan lembaga-lembaga budaya lokal (Tempo, Kompas, The Jakarta Post, Indonesian Visual Art Archive, Jakarta Art Council, Ruang Rupa), penerbitan seni internasional (Art Monthly Australia, Metropolis M, Afterall Journal, Discipline), monograf dan terbitan khusus tentang seniman atau proyek seni (Stedelijk Museum, Stedelijk Museum Bureau Amsterdam, South Project, Sternberg Press), dan jurnal akademis (Jurnal Perempuan, Inter-Asia Cultural Studies). Berkolaborasi dengan KUNCI, Nuraini telah memproduksi serangkaian kerja, yang menggunakan penelitian, publikasi, pameran, presentasi, dan pertemuan, sebagai mode keterlibatan intelektual dan politik. Pengalamannya telah digunakan untuk merancang dan melakukan kerja fasilitasi di bidang workshop seni visual dan budaya komunitas di Indonesia, negara-negara lain di Asia Tenggara, Australia, dan Eropa. Saat ini ia mengembangkan proyek pribadi bernama Domestic Notes. Domestic Notes adalah proyek berbasis publikasi yang menggunakan ruang-ruang domestik dan migran sebagai situs untuk mendiskusikan politik sehari-hari, gender, pengorganisasian sistem pendukung sementara, dan produksi budaya alternatif. Bersama dengan Andy Fuller, ia ikut menjalankan Reading Sideways Press, sebuah penerbitan kecil berbasis di Melbourne yang menerbitkan buku dan zine tentang seni, olahraga, dan sastra. Saat ini Nuraini tinggal dan bekerja di Melbourne, dan di tempat-tempat lain.

In 1999, Nuraini Juliastuti co-founded KUNCI Cultural Studies Center, in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Her education background includes MSc in Contemporary Asian Studies (University of Amsterdam) and PhD in Cultural Anthropology (Leiden University). Her research interests are situated between contemporary art production, digital culture, the making of commons, and performance of participation. Nuraini's research writings have been published widely in Indonesian media and cultural organisation (Tempo, Kompas, The Jakarta Post, Indonesian Visual Art Archive, Jakarta Art Council, Ruang Rupa), international art publications (Art Monthly Australia, Metropolis M, Afterall Journal, Discipline), and artists' book and monograph (Stedelijk Museum, Stedelijk Museum Bureau Amsterdam, South Project, Sternberg Press), and refereed academic journal (Jurnal Perempuan, Inter-Asia Cultural Studies). In collaboration with KUNCI, she has produced a body of works, which use research, publication, exhibition, presentation, and gathering as modes of intellectual and political engagement. Her expertise has been used to design and facilitate visual art and cultural community workshops in Indonesia, other parts of Southeast Asia, Australia, and Europe. Currently Nuraini developed her own project titled Domestic Notes. Domestic Notes is a publication-based project uses domestic and migrant spaces as sites to discuss everyday politics, gender, organisation of makeshift support system, and alternative cultural production. Together with Andy Fuller, she co-run Reading Sideways Press, a Melbourne-based small press which publishes books and zines on art, sports, and literature. She lives and works in Melbourne, Australia, and elsewhere.
